Welcome to the NAS Sigonella Branch Veterinary Clinic
Our Mission
Support the Naval Air Station Sigonella community with
veterinary care for government owned and privately owned animals.
Access
Privately owned animals of eligible military medical beneficiaries are
authorized to receive veterinary care on a space available basis. The
following categories of personnel are authorized to receive veterinary care
for their privately owned animals:
Members of the U.S. Uniform Services on active duty and their family members.
Retired members of the U.S. Uniform Services and their family members.
Members of the Reserve Component who have been called to active duty and their family members.
U.S. citizens stationed outside the United States who are employees of the DOD or other Federal agencies paid from appropriated funds or nonappropriated funds and their family members.
Services
Our clinic provides preventive medical care (vaccination, deworming,
examinations, etc.), sick call appointments, elective surgical procedures and
limited emergency care during clinic hours. We have limited x-ray and
in-house laboratory capability. We do not have hospitalization capability.
All services are provided on a space-available basis and are occasionally
unavailable due to Army training and other mission requirements.
Emergency Care
Emergencies occurring during normal business hours may be seen as walk-ins
when a veterinarian is available, but calling first is recommended due to
limited staffing and other mission requirements. Pets requiring care beyond
the capabilities of our clinic or after duty hours will be referred to a host
nation veterinarian. A list of local veterinary hospitals, including a full-service,
24/7 emergency clinic in Catania, is available on a bulletin board outside
the Sigonella veterinary clinic at all times.
Food Inspection
Assigned
Veterinary Food Inspection personnel provide food safety and inspection
services protecting the health of military members, their families, and the
local community by ensuring safe, quality food is delivered and accepted to
our retail and troop feeding locations.
